The CORRECT SPELLING IS: RECEIVED

The word 'received' obeys the 'I before E, except after C rule. So it should be simple enough to remember, right?

You would think so, certainly!

However, the chances are you found this webpage amongst MILLIONS of others, which contain the incorrect spelling: recieved.

A standard Google search for 'revieved' reveals 'Results of about 13,100,000'.

It seems that 'I before E, except after C' is a commonly heard phrase, which has too many exceptions to be utilised without further reference, and as such, it is not to be totally trusted!

So, how to remember the correct spelling FOREVER?

Try using Roman Numerals... (yes, that's what I said!)
